The U.S. Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) includes a sit-up event to measure a soldier’s core strength and endurance. For male soldiers, the number of sit-ups required to pass depends on their age group. To perform the sit-up correctly, soldiers have 2 minutes to complete as many repetitions as possible, with knees bent at a 90-degree angle and fingers interlocked behind their head. A minimum of 60 points is required to pass the test, which is one part of the overall APFT, along with push-ups and a 2-mile run.
